Let’s learn about fear periods!

Fear periods are in their very early weeks after leaving their mom up to about 3-4 months old and their second fear period can be anywhere from 8-24 months (teen/young adult months).

With some dogs you’ll feel it, with some you won’t. For many dogs unfortunately that’s a very challenging time because people misunderstand it as the dog being difficult when they’re in fact just having a difficult time.

So whether your dog is afraid or going through a fear period, your #1 priority is to slow things down (even something that felt positive and doable before), very closely listen to their limits and comfort levels, and above all make things feel doable and easy as if they were 8 weeks old again.

They will thank you later and your relationship will only become stronger as a result. â˜ș
